Soon to be Roasting on an Open fire

After painting the beans I wanted to paint another pile of something. With Christmas only a handful of weeks away I thought I would paint some chestnuts.

Beans

Lately I have been painting a lot of tiny fire in acrylics. Enjoying the colour gradient, I longed to paint something that used reds, oranges and yellows that was not fire.

Up close it is all very rough as expected, but I was pleased with the glossy realism from afar.

Jardin de Cactus

Lanzarote's famous Cactus Garden (Jardín de Cactus), based toward the north of the island in Guatiza, is one of the island's hottest attractions all year round. Developed under the guidance of César Manrique it showcases over 10,000 different plants.

I decided to stretch away from portraiture and work on a landscape, using a holiday snap as reference. The cactus gardens were beautiful, but then I have always been a fan of cacti.

Lord Commissar Harris the Renegade

Contrary to the origins of most Commissars, Lord Commissar Harris fought her way up the ranks. After two decades spent usurping those in positions above her and annihilating those in her way, she decided to carve her own path.

Surrounded by mutants, renegades, xenos and heretics she lends her military prowess to the highest bidder.

Lorelai Gajdošova

My first proper painting in three years. The whole thing took around 12 hours to paint and I think I managed to encompass the personality of my subject.

A serious, yet fun-loving woman Lorelai is very much the reason amongst the chaos that often surrounds her.

For her eyes, lips and nose I used a 0.1mm brush to make the detail look even more realistic.

This causes the eyes of the viewer to focus on the face and the rest of the picture acts as a backdrop to it.

The other details such as the flowers on the dress were painted with a 0.3mm-0.6mm brush. while the background, hair and torso were all painted with a 0.6mm-2mm, creating a far messier and more impressionistic look.

A Fresh Start

Since 2012 I worked under my independent company Twin Sword Trading along with some other artists.

Most of my artistic commission work and success was from drawing horror artwork and selling prints of my horror themed work. Over time I grew tired of this path, the gritty and depressing nature of my work and chose instead to focus on my career in teaching.

Now after a three year break I have decided to pursue my art again, I hope you enjoy my journey.
