Tinsel

After finishing some commission pieces I decided to paint Mia again.

A bit early for festivities but she gives me plenty to look forward to as the nights get darker and the days get shorter again.

Tadd

A piece from 2015, part of a series of very successful dog portraits.

One of the few pieces I still look back on and appreciate. Something about his face still fills my heart with joy. I am glad it had the same effect on so many others.

A Tubby Christmas

This year I bought Marisa a hamster. She's a bigger part of the family than most hamsters. The 100% domesticated, non-bitey family friend, has quite the character and only three front teeth!

Merry Christmas!

I hope you enjoy the last of the holiday season.

A Festive Face

Back in November I silently started painting again. After almost 2 years of hiatus, I have spent time getting back into the hobby.

Today I finally finished the painting of my number one fan, partner and heroine Marisa. Her encouragement and love for life inspire me every day to better myself, but also actually take the time to relax and have fun (Something I seldom did for many years).

2018 will be a year of prolific creativity, I can't wait.

Soon to be Roasting on an Open fire

After painting the beans I wanted to paint another pile of something. With Christmas only a handful of weeks away I thought I would paint some chestnuts.

Lorelai GajdoĊĦova

My first proper painting in three years. The whole thing took around 12 hours to paint and I think I managed to encompass the personality of my subject.

A serious, yet fun-loving woman Lorelai is very much the reason amongst the chaos that often surrounds her.

For her eyes, lips and nose I used a 0.1mm brush to make the detail look even more realistic.

This causes the eyes of the viewer to focus on the face and the rest of the picture acts as a backdrop to it.

The other details such as the flowers on the dress were painted with a 0.3mm-0.6mm brush. while the background, hair and torso were all painted with a 0.6mm-2mm, creating a far messier and more impressionistic look.
